The future of IT is heading towards the cloud. With cloud-based subscription services on the rise, Microsoft has decided to make some changes to Office 365 starting in October 2020. The main change requires the connection to Office 365 will need to be on Office 365 ProPlus or you will need to upgrade to Office 2019.
What does this mean?
If you are currently running on Office 2016 or older, you will need to make the switch. However, you can still access and use Office 2016 and connect to Office 365 until the end of support on 13th October 2020. After this date you will be required to purchased the latest version of Office 2019 or Office 365 ProPlus in order to connect to the Office 365 cloud services. These cloud services include applications like SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange Online, etc.
Microsoft is adamant that the date of 13th October 2020 is set in stone, even if you are running legacy applications. Even Office desktop applications like Outlook or OneDrive will no longer connect to Office 365 unless you make the switch.
