Cloud is still on the rise and that fact is pretty believable!
Based on a study from Gartner in 2018, cloud users are expected to double by 2021. This means the cloud market is also growing, estimating to go to $302 billion in the next year. LinkedIn has also documented that cloud computing skills are the most common and highly requested skills that companies in ever sector seek.
Why has the cloud grown so much in 2019?
- On demand
- Pas as you go
- Cost efficient
- Flexibility
- Scalability
- Security
- Reliability
The cloud offers many benefits to businesses and employees and we think these perks will continue to grow in 2020.
What do we predict will happen with the cloud in 2020?
- Going Serverless
Going serverless or Function as a Service (FaaS) would allow applications to run normally but not require the underlying infrastructure. There will still be servers since they are essential! But we think that there will be added flexibility with running applications.
- Hybrid
We are already seeing a combination of on-premise and cloud software usage and think that more and more businesses will make switches to the cloud. Software as a Service (SaaS) is what the cloud does, and it is growing in popularity, especially with the pay as you go feature.
- Artificial Intelligence
These words might be trendy for the times, but artificial intelligence is on the rise. It would make sense for a union between artificial intelligence and the cloud. Manually providing data reports can cause errors and be a time-consuming task. With artificial intelligence, data can be interpreted easily. We have covered this topic in past blogs and would highly suggest reading our blog here: https://tbsc.cloud/news/will-a-i-replace-the-software-asset-manager/
- Personalisation
Cloud computing allows for more personalisation and the possibilities keep increasing. For the future, businesses could have the option to build software and ecosystems that are tailored just for them. We predict this could become a possibility especially with hybrid cloud.
- Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is always changing with the tides of new technology. As the cloud grows, cyber security issues will arise. Not only is cybersecurity extremely important and essential, but it requires attention to ensure businesses are up to date with regulations and software updates.
With the cloud continuing to grow in popularity and usage, 2020 will bring new issues and ideas to help improve the overall cloud experience.
Let’s see if these predictions will come true!
